Wow – what a day….. It rained! And rained. And rained some more! We were trying to work out the last time we had the wet stuff at a S.V.Y.F open shoot and we couldn’t actually remember so it must have been a long time ago!
Thank you to all the brave soles who came, big thank you and high five to those that actually finished! The ironic thing is the rain did eventually stop – when archers had about 4 targets to go… And everyone left in sunshine!!!!
36 targets, mainly all 3d’s, were shot. A challenging but fair course was set which everyone enjoyed shooting. 140 archers were pre-booked, 126 turned up, just under 100 completed the course. The score cards were interesting! Trying to keep these dry in that weather was a massive task alone!
The ladies in the kitchen excelled themselves again (thanks Ladies – and Jason!) with a restaurant quality menu that went down well. The cake was pretty good too!
Not many pictures were taken due to the weather!
Thanks again to all those that came – while we can’t promise better weather next time, we will do our best!
See you in April next year.

I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the club members and guests who supported the clubs charity shoot. The generosity was amazing, raffle prizes and cash donations overwhelming. I would also like to thank Chris for doing a great job on the catering all day in sweltering heat. Keith for his excellent hand painted faces, Colin for his have a go and Jamie and Matt for the truly outstanding medals. But my biggest thanks goes to everyone who came on the day and made it such a great occasion and for your generosity.
Now for the big reveal… I am delighted to to say we raised £678.00 for our two cancer charities.
Thank you again to you all.

172 archers descended on our wood for our first open shoot of 2018. Mainly cloudy with a few scattered showers, all the visiting archers had a great day.
The course was looking fantastic with some cleverly laid shots deceiving many archers. The 3D’s looked stunning set around the woodland. The catering from the ladies in the kitchen (and Jason!) was first class with no one going hungry. The bacon, egg, black pudding and white pudding sandwich I had was particularly good!
There were some very good scores at the end of the day with lots of positive comments – it makes all the hard work worth it!
Everyone from S.V.Y.F would like to thank all the archers who came and glad you had a good day. We look forward to welcoming you back in October. Have a great summer!
